Household broadband adoption
Places ranked by broadband subscription.
The American Community Survey asks households whether they have an internet subscription. This page ranks US Census places by the share that say yes. It measures what households subscribe to, never which providers offer service at an address, and the two can differ for reasons the survey does not record.

What is being compared, and what is not
- This is subscription, not availability. A low rate can mean service is unavailable, unaffordable, or simply not wanted. The survey does not ask which, so this page does not say.
- 18,040 places are excluded because they hold fewer than 500 households, or because the margin of error is larger than half the estimate. That rule is the Census Bureau's own reliability convention, and it is the same rule that decides which place pages are published as pages of record.
- 223 places are excluded although they qualify, because the survey found no household without a subscription. Ranked by rate they would fill every top position and read as "100% of households have broadband", which is a statement about the sample and not about the place.
- Every figure carries a margin of error at the 90% confidence level. Neighbouring positions in these lists are not meaningfully different from each other. A rank is a position in a list, not a verdict.
- Places are not states. Census places do not cover a whole state — unincorporated territory belongs to none — so these figures are never added up into a state or national rate here.
Highest subscription rates
The top of this list is dominated by small, affluent places. At a few thousand households the margin of error is still material, and the places below are close enough together that their order should not be read as a difference.

Lowest subscription rates
A place appears here because few of its households reported a subscription. That is not evidence that service is unavailable: some communities subscribe at low rates by choice, and the survey records the outcome rather than the reason.
